European Day of Languages – 26 September

Since the European Year of Languages in 2001, the 26th of September has been celebrated across Europe as the 'European Day of Languages' (EDL).

The tradition continues this year with the same wealth of activities being organised Europe-wide. The Council of Europe's EDL website contains all you need to know to make your own European Day of Languages successful - Here's how you can get involved:

Organise events and promote them via our interactive events database
Make sure any events you organise are published in the local press so that people in your region have a chance to get involved
  • Share
Forge new contacts all over Europe and discover things you never knew about other languages and cultures
Spread your own knowledge and pick up tips from teachers and students on language learning
Give others great ideas about events they could organise in their school, university or work place.

Share your experiences of the events which took place in your country last year
